Karen Ann Mailliard of Sequim, Washington and Kona, Hawai'i died on Sunday, November 14, 2010.
Karen was born on August 30, 1942. She leaves behind her husband, Larry Mailliard, her son, Patrick Krepps, daughter-in-law, Sara Krepps, stepson M. Wyatt Mailliard, his wife Michelle and their daughters Taylor and Madison.
In the early years of her career, Karen taught school. After earning her Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from Wayne State University, Karen went into the corporate world and continued her career at Sprint. At Sprint, Karen became a Vice-President where she created Sprint's University of Excellence, a program for training and developing employees. The Governor of the state of Kansas recruited Karen to serve as a Kansas Regent. Karen served as a Regent for several years.
Karen retired from Sprint in 1997. In 1998, she and Larry moved to Sequim, Washington. During their time in Sequim, they traveled and enjoyed the beauty of the Northwest.
Karen lived every day of her life. She enjoyed her life and all the people who surrounded her.
Karen you are loved and missed. Thank you for all the joy you gave to this world and your family.

I met Karen in 1987, when I relocated from Texas to Kansas as her secretary for United Telephone. As the years passed, she became more than just my supervisor, but my very dear friend whom I admired and greatly appreciated. She had a smile that could brighten up any room and keen wit that could break any silence. We shared many good times that will forever remain in my heart. She was a beautiful, phenomenal woman who made a huge impact in my life and the lives of my family. Thank you, Karen, for the precious memories. You will be missed, my friend, but never forgotten.
